How to Maintain and Extend the Life of Your Vaping Device

Your vaping device provides a healthier alternative to smoking, allowing you to improve your lifestyle considerably. However, to ensure it continues to perform at its best, you’ll need to carry out regular maintenance, including cleaning and coil replacement. Staff at any good vape store will be able to advise you on how best to care for your vaping device.

Cleaning

Regular cleaning of your vaping device is essential for its upkeep. Clean its exterior with a soft cloth to remove any dust and residue. You should also clean the mouthpiece with warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly. Ensure that the tank and coil are clean to prevent clogs from occurring.

Battery care

Caring for the battery inside your device is important to ensure it continues to function properly. We recommend charging the battery before it’s completely drained as this will prolong its life. At the same time, avoid overcharging it as this can reduce its capacity over time. Make sure you sure the device in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight.

Tank maintenance

Regular tank maintenance is crucial, not just for preserving the quality of the flavours of the e-liquid but for ensuring optimal vapour production. To maintain your device’s tank, disassemble it regularly for cleaning, replace the coils when they become worn, and avoid mixing incompatible e-liquids that may cause clogs. Ideally, you should also empty the tank if you know you won’t be using it for an extended period of time as this can prevent liquid degradation. We also recommend making sure you follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for your specific tank.

Coil replacement

The coil needs replacing frequently. This is because a worn-out coil can significantly impact the performance of your device. Residue from the e-liquid accumulates on the coil, coating it with a layer of burned e-liquid. This not only results in a burnt taste that affects the flavour of your vapour but leads to reduced vapour production.

To avoid these issues, you’ll need to change your coil regularly, ideally every one to two weeks. We recommend priming new coils by saturating them with e-liquid before use. This can prevent a dry hit, which occurs when you take a hit from your device which is vapourless and delivers a bad taste.

E-liquid storage

As well as maintaining your vaping device, you should also take steps to care for your e-liquids. This can include storing them properly, ideally in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight. The reason for this is that exposure to heat and sunlight can degrade the nicotine and flavour compounds within the e-liquid. Tightly seal the bottles to prevent oxidation and shake them before refilling your tank to ensure a consistent flavour.
